Barca misfit Hleb advises Fabregas to stay at Arsenal
Former Arsenal star Alexander Hleb has urged Cesc Fabregas to think long and hard about joining Barcelona, the club where the Belarus international has struggled to make an impact since moving from the Gunners in 2008.
It is reportedly only a matter of time before Fabregas moves to the Nou Camp, after the Arsenal captain informed current boss Arsene Wenger that he would like to rejoin the club where at which he started his career.
Hleb made the move from the Emirates to the Catalan giants himself in 2008, signing for a fee of £11.8 million after enjoying a superb 2007-08 season with the Gunners.
But he failed to establish himself under Pep Guardiola, making just 17 starts in all competitions as Barca won the treble in 2008-09, and moved on to Stuttgart on loan - enjoying regular first-team football last season.
And Hleb, who revealed he is still in contact with Fabregas, urged the Gunners captain to consider the effect any move might have on his career.
"I stay in touch with Cesc a lot and it's hard for me to judge what he should do," Hleb was quoted as saying in the Sun. "He and Gael Clichy are both very good players who must make their own decisions about their future. But I would advise them to stay.
"It didn't work out for Arsenal this season but, if Arsene Wenger keeps the side together, they can really go far next year. They play great football. It's partly a question of experience and next season Arsenal will have more of it if everyone stays. All things being equal, I think they have a very good chance of the title next season."
