Depor move for Chamakh

Reports in the Moroccan press suggest that Deportivo La Coruna are hoping to procure the signing of Bordeaux front man Marouane Chamakh.

The 21-year-old, who is considered by many to be the best African player plying his trade in Europe, is also a target for French champions Lyon.

However, Lyon have recently had an £8 million bid rejected by their French rivals and it seems unlikely that they will be able to finance an increased offer, leaving the Spaniards in pole position for the player's signature.

Deportivo have long been rumoured to be chasing the player but now appear to have sufficient funds to be able to broker a deal with the French club.

Chamakh, who has French citizenship, enjoyed an outstanding African Cup of Nations last year and has since been coveted by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Deportivo La Coruna have turned to Brazilian striker Fernandao in their search for a front man.
New coach Joaquin Caparros is keen to get another forward on board and Fernandao, formally of Marseille and Toulouse, but now back in Brazil with Internacional de Porto Alegre, may be the answer.

Talks could take place this week, with a loan deal perhaps in the pipeline.

Depor are also being linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Danjiel Ljuboja.

Amavisca Hangs Up His Boots

Former Real Madrid midfielder Jose Emilio Amavisca has decided to retire from the game at the age of 34.
The left-winger played 14 seasons in the Spanish top flight with Valladolid, Real, Racing Santander, Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol, scoring 34 goals.

He had offers to continue his career, but has decided to call it a day.

Amavisca played for Spain on 15 occasions.

Mallorca loan Tuzzio

Mallorca have bagged their eighth player of the summer with the loan signing of Eduardo Tuzzio from Argentine side River Plate - but there could be more on their way.

The 31-year-old central defender signed a one-year loan deal at Estadio Son Moix and wants to prove himself in European football after an unsuccessful period with Marseille.

Tuzzio played for the french club for two years between 2001 and 2003 before returning to Argentina but the lure of playing under Mallorca coach Hector Cuper, and alongside compatriot and former River Plate team-mate Guillermo Pereyra, proved too much to resist.

He said: "I chose mallorca because Cuper asked me to come, and for an Argentine player that is an important thing.

"Also, Pereyra is at the club and that will make settling in a lot easier for me.

"Coming to the Spanish league gives me a chance to prove what I can do, because two years ago I was in Marseille but had to go back to River.

"This time I want to be a success and stay."

Mallorca have already brought in Toni Prats from Betis, Borja from Real Madrid, Fernando Navarro from Barcelona, Alessandro Potenza from Inter, Adrian Peralta from Instituto de Cordoba, Francisco Maciel from Real Murcia and Arango from Puebla.

Club president Vicente Grande has not finished and revealed he is now negotiating with Velez Sarsfield to bring in Jonas Gutierrez.
