Pele slams Maradona, praises Germany

Berlin, Jul 2: Just when the world thought that the Pele-Maradona spat was over, the Brazilian legend commented that Diego Maradona was not a competent coach due to his troubled private life and praised the German team ahead of the big quarterfinal tie between the football titans.
Buzz up!Speaking to German magazine 11Freunde on Thursday, Jul 1, Pele said, "He (Maradona) is not a good coach, because he had a bizarre lifestyle which cannot go down well with his team."
The three-time World cup winner said that Maradona's romance with cocaine addiction and other similar factors would have a negative effect on the Argentine team.
Earlier during the World Cup finals, Pele said that Maradona had only taken the coaching job because he needed the money.
On Argentina's quarter final rival, Pele said, "This young German team is a pleasure to watch."
"It is clear to see that something has changed in German football, it was already beginning to happen at Euro 2008 (where they lost 1-0 to Spain in the final) and the youngsters Mesut Ozil and Thomas Mueller, they are like their predecessors Wolfgang Overath and Pierre Littbarski.
"They can dribble, deliver pinpoint passes, and produce something surprising at any moment," added Pele.
The Brazilian, however, said that the Germans were too young to clinch the FIFA World Cup 2010.
