Tottenham coach Martin Jol has confirmed his admiration for Newcastle's want-away midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
Spurs are known to be interested in Jenas and are believed to have had at least one offer rejected for him already.
Talks of a swap deal involving Robbie Keane continues to gather pace and Jol admits Jenas is a player he likes.
"I think he is an international box to box player," Jol told Sky Sports News.
"But every coach and manager in the Premiership will tell you that."
Jenas, who is understood to be unhappy with life at Newcastle, looks set to depart St James' Park before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Jol has also confirmed his interest in Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt- following the sale of Fredi Kanoute.
Dutch international Kuyt was a target for Liverpool earlier this summer, but now Spurs could offer him a route to England.
"There are so many players on our list and Dirk Kuyt is one of them," added Jol.
"Any Dutch coach abroad knows about Kuyt - he is a player that anyone would want in their team. But there is a difference between making an offer for a player and getting him.
"My list is very big. I was in my room today watching an 18-year-old player who is very good and I think most clubs will be scouting him."
Jol insists he had no choice but to sell Kanoute to Sevilla.
"With Kanoute, if a club is prepared to pay the right price, we have to make a decision and we did," he said.
"When I think about it I think we did well. We had money to spend anyway but now we have more.
"We might now be in a situation where we could buy a better player than Kanoute.
"You can play with three strikers but maybe Mido will be injured again. It's better to have four strikers."
Jol, did though, confirm he is unlikely to make a bid for Dean Ashton, after deciding against it last season.
"We could have had Dean Ashton last season but we went for Mido instead," he said.
"I feel it would be a bit sloppy going back for him when we had the chance to sign him then."
Tottenham are reported to be considering a move for Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Aldo DuscherAldo Duscher.
The North Londoners have been busy in the transfer market this summer and have already brought in Edgar Davids, Teemu Tainio and Wayne Routledge to bolster their midfield options.
However, boss Martin Jol seems determined to land another defensive midfielder and has been credited with an interest in Newcastle's Jermaine Jenas.
The Magpies, though, would be looking for in excess of £10 million for Jenas a figure Jol is not prepared to entertain.
As a result the Dutchman is understood to have switched his sights to 26-year-old Duscher.
The Argentine is well-known to English audiences for the tackle on David Beckham during a UEFA Champions League clash between Manchester United and Depor that almost forced the England skipper to miss the 2002 World Cup finals.
Duscher is not assured of a regular first-team berth at Depor and recently admitted he would consider a move - especially in World Cup year.
Reports in Spain suggest that Depor boss Joaquin Caparros is close to completing a deal for Sporting Gijon starlet Javi Fuego which would only serve to push Duscher further down the pecking order at La Riazor
